Woolen socks mended with Swiss darning
I was organizing my supplies and found a collection of socks and other things that I had put away to mend one day when I have time. Yesterday, on Sunday, I drank my morning tea with no haste and darned a pair of socks. I used Swiss darning technique which is a bit challenging for me. The gray patch at the middle of the heel is from the previous darning session, and now I needed to add more stitches to prevent holes forming.
I did it in silence, no tv, series, radio, podcasts, music or any other entertainment. Just me, my tea and my mending. It felt really good and grounding. And while I was stitching and letting my mind wonder, among other things it always returned to the mystery at hand - why does one sock always wear out faster than the other?
