Small hole, big mend, no sewing machine
There was a small tear next to the cargo pocket on these pants. Probably from carrying something too big or too heavy.
I love mending! Especially if I can try new techniques and make it visible. I started by finding a random patch to use on the inside of the pants.
Next, I sewed over the whole edges to attach the hole to the patch. According to the instructions, I should have cut the hole even and turned the edges under. But I did not want to make it any bigger than it already was. I also sewed the patch from the edges to the pants on the wrong side.
I thought that this might not be enough, and decided to strengthen the whole mend by adding some more stitches.
Happy with the end result. By the way, the pattern also continues under the pocket flap.
